everything I wanted

Everything I wanted
Walking back from the pub into a fine November rain
A winding country road, midnight in Dingle Bay
It was dark and it was quiet
It was everything I wanted
To get me though the night
A night that I was haunted
Haunted by our time
Haunted by each day
Haunted by you smile, your eyes and my mistakes
An empty side street with shiny cobble stones
My hands were buried deep, somewhere in Cologne
Moving shadows on the wall, from a lucid dancing flame
A candle burning, I'm drinking way too late
The Baltic sea by night, under a leaden sky
No bird, no boat, no light, a seldom wind still life

Joyride Sky
The highway is empty, it s a cloudless night
And the sky is the color of your eyes
Your bare feet on the dashboard the wind is in your hair
This car ain't ours but we don't care
We're riding in the Joyride sky
We're leaving it all behind
Just you and I
In a Joyride sky
Yeah-yea-yeah we won
And you're riding shotgun
Our faces in the headlights, of the oncoming cars
We re feeling like a movie star
The radio is playing an unknown band
And we re quiet so we re not, ruin this moment
Another small town and another smalltime crime
We had to stock up on chocolate and wine
Now we re good for another hundred miles
And i m good for another your killing smiles
Before i m running out of dreams
I m running out of gas
That s what i call freedom, yes

Minimum wage girl
You wear your summer shoes in winter
You say the other boots are wet
You swear on green onions
on whole wheat bread
And you're my love
The only one I can think of
But I'm too shy
The dreams you dream
You can't call dreams anymore
They are silent film stars
Caught in a revolving door
You go to work every morning
And in the night too
Three minimum-wage jobs
And no career for you
You get too little sleep
And too much shit from your boss
He is complaining about your earrings
And about his hair loss
You're invisible in the streets
And on the local bus
Just the greasy spoon waitress
Refills your coffee without a fuss
You wear your summer shoes in winter
You say your other boots are wet
And you swear on green onions
On whole wheat bread

soul of the church

Soul of the church
Frank was homeless, the church took him in, in the basement
The old priest, his own mercy, his decision
Frank in return, helped where he could, and he felt good
Never missed a mass, singing last row, bad but loud
Frank always smiled, tween his full beard, friendly and kind
People soon called him, the soul of the church, soul of the church
The priest was old, older than Frank, and one day
The priest said, doctor told me, to say goodbye
Frank slept sound, when the new priest, came around
He woke him, and he told Frank, he couldn't stay
One last night, they agreed on, then you move on
The next morning, they found Frank hanging, in the basement
The new priest sent, thoughts and prayers, more for himself
Because he knew, what he had done, to the soul of the church
The soul of the church, had took his life, in the basement
Before he'd lose, his people and bed, he hanged himself
To lose the things, that kept him alive, was too much
To much for Frank, for his kind smile, and for his life
The people knew, what happened and how, it was wrong
They stopped singing, with the new priest, to any church song
